About
Awon Golding is one of London’s most celebrated milliners, creating vibrant, expressive couture hats that turn heads and transform the wearer. In the words of Lady Gaga, they make you feel like Isabella Blow.
Born in Hong Kong and shaped by English-Indian heritage, Awon brings a bold, multicultural perspective to one of fashion’s oldest crafts. Trained through traditional apprenticeships and graduating with Distinction in Millinery from Kensington and Chelsea College, she combines heritage techniques with a distinctly modern, expressive point of view.
Following her tenure as Head Millinery Designer at Lock & Co. Hatters, the world’s oldest hat shop, Awon now focuses on her independent practice and ongoing collaboration with Robert Wun, working at the forefront of contemporary couture.
Her designs have been worn by Catherine, Princess of Wales, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Björk, Naomi Osaka, Dita Von Teese, and Kylie Minogue, and have appeared at London Fashion Week and on Handmade in Britain.
Her collections span made-to-order pieces, bridal, and bespoke commissions, each one handcrafted with precision, movement, and a sense of joy, whether destined for Royal Ascot, the runway, or the front row.
In 2018, Awon founded the Haute Dogs Calendar, a charity project merging couture millinery with animal welfare. Rescue dogs are photographed wearing expressive, high-fashion hats, raising funds for their rescue and rehoming worldwide. The initiative has raised over £140,000 and become one of fashion’s most joyful and unexpected projects.
Awon’s work sits at the intersection of heritage craft and modern expression, vibrant, expressive couture worn by royalty, rockstars, and the runway.
